Ayse Celikbas, SE, LEED AP

Ayse has been with Rutherford + Chekene since 1999 and manages many of the firm's international and complex seismic retrofit projects.

Her structural design experience includes retrofits for the Republic of Turkey, the Ferry Building Marketplace renovation on the San Francisco waterfront, the award­winning UC Berkeley Units 1 and 2 Infill Housing, the UC Santa Cruz McHenry Library expansion and the seismic retrofit of the historic Old Solano Courthouse.

Ayse is experienced in advanced analysis of structures to understand the expected performance in earthquakes. Her primary work approach is to keep her clients informed of all key project issues and to facilitate client decisions that need to be made related to building performance, project cost and project schedule. She has been LEED accredited since 2005, and she is involved with the Sustainable Design Committee of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California. Currently she is the internship coordinator for R+C.

Connecting Back
Originally from Turkey, Ayse is currently working to retrofit hundreds of school and hospital buildings in Istanbul as part of the Turkish government's Istanbul Seismic Mitigation and Earthquake Preparedness program. Ayse works closely with local Istanbul firms, providing expertise from her experience on California retrofit projects.
