Structural Intern

At R+C, we are a passionate group of individuals who are excited to tackle project challenges head-on. Our driving motivation is to develop innovative, tailored solutions that stand the test of time and keep people safe. Since 1960, we have worked on many of California’s iconic structures like the Ferry Building, de Young Museum and Monterey Bay Aquarium, and we are active participants in code and guideline development.

R+C offers an opportunity for students to learn from some of the most experienced structural engineers in the Bay Area who work on a wide range of new design, renovation, and seismic evaluation projects with clients including universities, governments, high-tech companies, and hospitals to name a few. We are committed to hands-on learning at all levels and to maintaining a friendly and welcoming in-office atmosphere.

Structural Engineering Internship
Rutherford + Chekene provides a summer intern program for students interested in structural engineering who have already attained their bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering and will be entering or continuing in a related master’s degree program in the fall. This intern program is well-suited for students who would like to be considered for career employment with R+C after their graduate studies are completed.

Interns gain experience in analysis, design, and construction administration and are exposed to a wide variety of engineering tasks. They work under the guidance of senior engineers and with other interns. The intern program includes mentoring, educational seminars, construction site visits, and company social events. This paid intern program lasts for 10 weeks between June and September; exact dates are flexible. This intern program is well-suited for students who are interested in continuing their graduate studies in California.
