R+C was geotechnical engineer of record for the New Stanford Hospital, one of California's largest hospitals under construction. The design incorporates a base isolation system on auger cast piles. Geotechnical challenges included mitigating impacts of potential liquefiable soil pockets in a way that allowed for a more economical design. The 824,000 sf hospital includes 600 beds, an emergency department, surgery suites, patient rooms, imaging areas, clinics, laboratories, offices and a cafeteria. The facility consists of four interconnected buildings in a quad formation around a central courtyard.

R+C is also responsible for the OSHPD out-sourced structural plan check of the new Stanford Hospital and has provided upgrades to the existing hospital central utility plant. We are involved in master planning and preliminary studies for a new central utility plant that will service the new hospital complex.
