Higher Education
R+C started work with UC Santa Cruz on wood-framed student housing and classroom facilities in the 1960s. Our higher education work today runs the gamut of sizes and scopes, from small repairs of student co-ops to design and construction of modern stem cell research laboratories. Our history includes strong relationships with Stanford University, the University of California, the CSU system, Bay Area community colleges and with private colleges throughout California.
A long awaited renewal
The UC Berkeley Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project transformed a long-underutilized student area into a revitalized campus center that now brims with life and upholds the UC motto fiat lux, “let there be light”. Involving new design, seismic retrofit and a complex building expansion, the project celebrates Lower Sproul’s history while accommodating the evolving needs of future generations of students.
