The new Manetti Shrem Museum at UC Davis is iconic and visible, yet displays a transparency that unites the interior with its external surroundings. Inspired by the quilted agrarian landscape that stretches beyond the site, the project’s signature feature is a 50,000 sf undulating Grand Canopy. The permeable and ever-changing quality of this structure is enabled by the varying, porous and flexible canopy infill members that filter and reflect sunlight.
