Structural Designer (multiple openings)

Job Duties:

Working under the supervision of licensed structural engineers, the Structural Designer will utilize RAM, ETABS, SAP, SAFE, or PERFORM 3D structural engineering software for the analysis and design of new building structures and evaluation and retrofit design of existing structures in accordance with the applicable building codes and standards including seismic and other functional requirements. They will also utilize REVIT software to produce structural details for the structural drawing sets.

The Structural Designer’s duties primarily consist of the following:

·   Serving as member of the project team, providing engineering support for planning, design, and construction of the building structures.

·   Developing solutions to structural design problems.

·   Performing structural analysis using RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE or PERFORM 3D structural engineering software.

·   Developing structural details and construction drawings using computer assisted design (CAD) tools and building information modeling (BIM) tools (e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT, software).

·   Attending coordination meetings with other trades as required by the project manager.

·   Preparing construction drawings and specifications utilizing necessary building codes and standards including seismic requirements.

·   Organizing/maintaining revisions to project drawings.

·   Preparing reports and technical memoranda.

·   Participate in client and design team meetings, as well as plan review and approval processes.

·   Developing processes for automation and efficiencies using Python and MATLAB.

·   Working on special projects that use OpenSees.

 

WFH permitted up to 3 days/week. Minimal local and domestic travel, approximately 1-2 days per month, to visit client offices and project sites.

THE INTERN EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Requirements:  

 

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 1 year of structural design experience.  

Knowledge of the following, through post-secondary coursework, training or work experience, is also required:

·   Nonlinear structural analysis

·   Earthquake resistant design

·   Advanced steel and reinforced concrete design

·   Python, MATLAB and OpenSees

·   Building information modeling (BIM) tool(s)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary:

$94,000 to $95,000 per year.
