The two-story, LEED Platinum Pomona-Pitzer Center for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness is home to 450 Sagehen Athletics varsity athletes as well as the intercollegiate athletics program and other campus athletics programs. A key component of the college’s larger strategic vision to reinvent wellness on campus, the center includes a central skylit atrium, strength training and conditioning facilities, team locker rooms, athletic department offices, recreational fitness studios, and more. The project involved renovating and adding nearly 100,000 sf to the existing 1950s-era Memorial Gymnasium building. Highlights of the project include the long-span roof structure in the second-floor gymnasium, which is composed of cross-laminated timber supported by steel trusses, and the precast concrete façade.

The center was featured in the Summer 2024 issue of Ascent Magazine—read the article.
