R+C served as prime consultant for the seismic retrofit and strengthening of the concrete Edwards building—part of the Stanford School of Medicine's historic complex designed by architect Edward Durrell Stone. To meet the university’s full occupancy requirement, R+C used an exterior steel bracing system. R+C employed nonlinear analysis procedures, in accordance with ASCE-41, to verify performance of the retrofit structure with HCAI approval.
