South San Francisco, CA
The project replaced two existing buildings with a new 12-story mixed use lab/office tower which is connected via an atrium to another five-story lab/office structure. The project also includes a two-level, below-grade parking structure for 725 cars with a heavily landscaped plaza on top and a separate 41,200 sf amenity building.
R+C is also the structural engineer for 480,000 sf of tenant improvements for AbbVie’s new home on the campus. Their new space will include research laboratories, a cGMP manufacturing suite, a vivarium, offices, and support space. The work also includes structural services for new rooftop equipment platforms, anchorage and bracing of equipment and furniture, and support/retrofit of a new elevator, restrooms, demountable and operable walls, stairs, and signage.
