Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Collaboration Commons

Berkeley, CA

The Collaboration Commons will serve as a gateway to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory campus, bringing together conference facilities, health services, security and badging offices, human resources, a central cafeteria, and a new bus transit hub. Designed to foster accessibility and a sense of connection across the sprawling hillside campus, the Collaboration Commons features flowing, interconnected spaces with sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay.

The two-pronged project also involves several upgrade and modernization projects, such as the seismic upgrade of the firehouse, an evaluation of existing utility capacity to service future and upgraded buildings, the design of an all-electric mechanical plant, and utility rerouting and improvements. Sustainability was a key priority on this project as the campus progresses towards its “Zero Waste” goal.
